This is the Supporting My Athlete Parents' Handbook - the content covers information for coaches and parents of athletes, shows you the content your child will be covering in our workshops and contains useful information relating to pathways and funding for your child.

Video: 'State of Play: Trophy Kids' This is a show about extreme parenting. It is confronting for parents to watch, but it is a good lesson for every parent of an athletic child to help you reflect on what you do well to support your child in their sporting pursuits.

Video: 'Changing the Game in Youth Sports' This is a TedX talk from John O'Sullivan. O'Sullivan talks about youth sport being about children competing with each other rather and how he is using his experience as a player and coach to reshape and shift the culture within youth sports.

AIS Cookbooks
The Australian Institute of Sport have published a series of cookbooks developed by the team of sports dietitians at the AIS. These are a great guide to healthy large quantity cooking for athletes and other healthy people, and recipes from 3 of the 4 books are available on the AIS website.

There are Department of Sport and Recreation and the Australian Sports Commission programs that may be able to assist with funding for young athletes travelling to sporting competitions.
The Athlete Travel Subsidy Scheme is an initiative supporting athletes who have progressed into the high performance pathway of their chosen sport and are pursuing regional, state and national representation. Refer to your child's sport’s specific pathway mapping document to determine if the event you wish to apply for is eligible.

The Local Sporting Champions Program is an Australian Government initiative designed to provide financial assistance for young people aged 12-18 towards the cost of travel, accommodation, uniforms or equipment when competing, coaching or officiating at an official national sporting organisation endorsed state, national or international sporting championships or a School Sport Australia state or national championships.
