Early Dreams Can Become Real Goals: Volleyball WA workshop
29 November 2014

Volleyball WA Foundation Core workshop, 29 November 2014, Department of Sport & Recreation WA
story by Olivia Vivian (WAIS Gymnast: 2008 Olympics, 2014 Commonwealth Games, multiple World Championships)
The foundations workshop on Saturday 29th of November was such a great start to these athletes journey through the courses.  My favourite part of this workshop was discussing 'My Pathway' with the athletes and how each of them needs to set their own personalized targets and goals, along with process goals along the way.
I mentioned that my goal to be an Olympian wasn't set into motion the day I was accepted into WAIS, it was actually when I was 12 years old and I said my goal out-load to someone else. The act of telling another person what I was aiming to achieve was the first stepping stone for me to get the ball rolling towards that Olympic dream!
Another highlight of this workshop was how much the athletes utilised my presence and asked a bunch of questions. It's not often you get to have a veteran athlete in the room willing to give away all their secrets and lessons they've learned so I respect the participants will to ask and learn.
Olivia "VIV" Vivian pumped up in competition!
